The varsity guys took it at 5:45 this morning and I was slightly late for reasons that are not my fault, but I got to the high school at 5:49 and saw what I thought was the guys just passing the roundabout in the back of the school, so I took off trying to catch them. Well I got close enough in about 2 minutes to see that it was the girls team. Disappointed that I would have to do this run on my own, I passed them and kept going. As I was passing Wells Fargo, I looked down the road and saw the guys! I hauled butt and caught them on Foremaster Ridge. That would explain the quick pace. Good morning for running.

Not sure why it was such a chill day for running, but not too many miles today. But we've got a good workout in the morning. My new testing shoes got here today, so I'll be putting some miles on those.

Tough workout this morning. 3x 800m at CV w/ 5 min recovery; 4x 400m at 3-4 sec faster than 1600m pace w/ 2 min recovery; 4x 100m at 400m pace w/ 2 min recovery. The 800's were not too bad because I focused on making them really close to the designed time. But the 400's were pretty dang tough. It's good that they were because they were supposed to be the toughest part of the workout. I hit them at 1:06, 1:10, 1:08 and 1:08; those were mostly a couple seconds fast, but it felt good. Overall, much better than the last workout.

I learned a few things from this race: I need to eat better and I need to get out on the first lap. Didn't get the State Qualifier I was looking for, but at least I learned some things. Glad my bro Alex finally got his SQ in the 800m. He's quite the beast. But you'll see me at Region.

Suuuper dope trail run up by the Draper temple. I had to push quite a bit on the way up, but I hanged in there. On the way down, however, I don't think I've ever run so fast in my life. Right when it started in to the major downhill, Julien was in front and I was right behind him, and Coach said, "open it up, J." Well that's like giving freakin cocaine to Hopi Julien; that kid can fly on a trail. I decided to stick with him and it was pretty sketchy, but it was just us two on the majority of the way down. Wasn't totally sure of the distance or time because my watch died about 40 minutes in. Overall, awesome run.
