We then moved into the workout of 2x 200m, 400m, 800m, 400m, 200m. 200's were at 800m pace, 400's were at 1600m pace, and 800's were at 3200m pace with 2 min recovery between the 200/400 and 400/800, 4 min recovery between 800/400, and 5 min recovery between sets. This workout was actually harder than I anticipated it to be. While, my 200's and 400's were quite good, both of the 800's were sluggish and slow especially on the second lap. I was glad to get through it. I suppose this was just one of those workouts that you gotta get through; I bet everyone has those days. Overall, pretty up and down day for running.
Wed, 26 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 25, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-25-2017.html
AM over 13:24; 7:04 pace- pre weights DI loop

PM over 48:50; 7:10 pace; 6x quick striders

Pretty good day for running, but a little windy. Not much to say today.
Tue, 25 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 24, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-24-2017.html
AM over 1:18:36; 7:06 pace; 5 min Easy Tempo, then 10 min CV+10 sec

PM over 24:36; 7:28 pace

Pretty good long run this morning. I was confused about what the workout was, but I pushed through anyway. Took kind of the same route as the long fun a few weeks ago, but instead turning right onto Washington Fields Rd, rather than left. Learned that this was our penultimate long run of the season. Gonna miss the seniors.
Mon, 24 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Sun, Apr 23, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-23-2017.html Sun, 23 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 22, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-22-2017.html
Dixie Invitational 800m

I definitely will not forget this race. In abridgement, I ran an unbelieveable initial 750m and a very very very bad last 50m. Ended up with a 2:02.32 and the worst physical feeling of my life. I truly gave it everything I had physically and I'm going to learn from this race. I will state qualify in the 800m!
Sat, 22 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Fri, Apr 21, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-21-2017.html
AM over 24:44; 7:18 pace- usual morning route

PM Dixie Invitational 400m

This was my best 400m in a while, both time and feeling. Gets me pretty dang excited for the 800m tomorrow.
Fri, 21 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Thu, Apr 20, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-20-2017.html
AM over 13:46; 7:12 pace- post weights DI loop

PM over 43:12; 7:47 pace

We were supposed to have the first annual 420 invitational at practice this afternoon, but coach made us put out flyers for the Southern Utah Half. But that was just for the girls. Earlier today, I had mixed emotions about the workout; I was excited to do a tough workout, but I thought I was gonna have to do it on my own because of another commitment. However, I managed to get out of it, and boy am I glad I did. I needed my bros for this one. We started with 3x 1000m at CV(3:35) w/5 min recovery. We hit those maybe a little harder than we should have, coming out 5-10 seconds quick on each of them. Next, we had the important part of the workout with 4x 400m at 1600m pace(1:13) w/2 min recovery. I beat the crap out of those; first repeat was right on and I got faster each time, working down to a 1:10 on the last two. Then to finish it off, 4x 200m at 800m pace(:30) w/2 min recovery. I gained a lot of confidence from these. After coming out 2 seconds slow on the first one, I realized how much I needed to get after the 200's. Crushed the next three with :29, :28, and :28. This was a KILLER workout, but it gave me a lot of confidence that I'll do something incredible this weekend.
Wed, 19 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 18, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-18-2017.html
AM over 14:06; 7:21 pace- post weights DI loop

PM over 44:29; 7:17 pace; 6x quick striders

Took a run to coaches house and helped him move some rocks. He told us they were big and heavy, but we didn't know they were that big and heavy. It took some hard work to get them just right, but nevertheless, we got it done. He seemed glad to get it done.
Tue, 18 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 17, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-17-2017.html
AM over 1:15:56; 7:14 pace; 1, 2, 1, 2, 1 min, fartleks with 3 min. recovery

Super dope run this morning with some of the bros. We decided to do the marathon course, so we started right below Snow Canyon State Park. We were flying down the course, so we had to extend just a bit at the end. The fartleks were easy and the weather was great. Overall, pretty cheese as far as long runs go.
Mon, 17 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Sun, Apr 16, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-16-2017.html Sun, 16 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 15, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-15-2017.html
PM over 1:10:00; 7:01 pace

Didn't wake up early to do the run, so I had to do it in the afternoon. It ended up working pretty well because Xander was opening his mission call at 6:45, so I just ran to his house and ran home. He's assigned to Peru, Iquitos. It was really cool to see him get his call just because we had a good conversation about it just yesterday. Overall, good day for running.
Sat, 15 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Fri, Apr 14, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-14-2017.html
D-Hills Multi & Distance Carni 4x800m

Personally, SUPER DOPE race! Took my split at 2:02.48 and that's truly what it felt like. As a team, it was decent. 3 seconds off the school record, and we thought we had it for a minute. It's alright. We'll get it next tear. Took a the same, dope cool-down run as last Friday with Xander and we had a quality conversations about our running futures and missions.
Fri, 14 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Thu, Apr 13, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-13-2017.html
AM over 14:27; 7:31- post weights DI loop

PM D-Hills Mulit & Dist. But what I didn't expect to happen did happen. I PR'ed with a 2:03.73. Super dope outcome for not the greatest conditions.
Thu, 13 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 12, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-12-2017.html
AM over 50:00; 7:28 pace

PM over 24:09; 7:19 pace

Longer run in the morning because of the youngster meet after school. Took it up over Foremaster and up the river trail. Talked a lot about this new show called 13 Reasons Why. It's about this girl who commits suicide and the 13 people that made her want to kill herself. That got us talking about suicide in general and it was pretty interesting what we all had to say.
Wed, 12 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 11, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-11-2017.html
AM over 13:42; 7:09 pace- pre weights DI loop

PM over 47:41: 7:45ish pace

Really fun adventure run this afternoon. I had no idea that other schools came; I figured it was just our own team. Started the meet off with a solid Distance Medley in which I ran the 800m. I'm pretty sure my split was around 2:10 and we definitely went sub 12 minutes. That was pretty good considering we were going just a bit quicker than workout pace. I then had the real race with the 4x800. This was the race that really mattered to PV since Coach made our teams, and the losing team has to buy the winning team donuts. Although my team was not the winning team, I was relieved that were not the losing team. I'm guessing I had another 2:10 split on that. In the final race, the 4x400, I had a really nice 56 second split. That was really big for me since that was a whole second faster than my Hurricane 400 and I wasn't quite going all out. Overall, really nice Panther Relay.
Tue, 04 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 03, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-03-2017.html
AM over 1:33:21; 7:03 pace; 2x 15 min. progressive tempo w/10 min recovery between

PM over 25:04; 7:31 pace

I paid for it. This morning run was quite easily the longest, most difficult run I've ever endured; endured is an accurate word for it. Nevertheless, I got through it, even though I was tempted to drop out since we ran right by my house. For afternoon practice, we ran indoors due to the lightning and pouring rain. Running indoors is also always something I have to endure.

Coach Roberts and Coach Holt both said some really important things in the meeting today. From Roberts, I learned to see obstacles as a way to get on higher ground and to look at goals in steps rather than as a whole. From Holt, I was reminded that anyone can make an impact on our team and that I can do amazing things.
Mon, 03 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Sun, Apr 02, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-02-2017.html Sun, 02 Apr 2017 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 01, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-01-2017.html
Didn't get my run in today. It wasn't a very good 400m either. I guess you could give some of the time to the wind, but it honestly was not a well run 400m on my part. It honestly hasn't felt the same since Snow Canyon. I don't know what I'll do with the 400m.
Fri, 31 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Thu, Mar 30, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-30-2017.html
AM over 13:20; 7:05 pace- pre weights DI loop

PM over 49:24; 7:54 pace; 6x quick striders

Chill day for running. I went to the school at 6:15 to find that everyone's car was there, but they were not. Tanner was in the same boat as me, so we just did 40 minutes. I guess I'll know for the next youngster meet.
Wed, 29 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Mar 28, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-28-2017.html
AM over 13:17; 6:57 pace- pre weights DI loop

Today was a bucket list day for me. Last week, Coach told me he wanted me to run the 1600m at the JV meet in Cedar, and I said alright. I wasn't too excited just because I didn't feel that the 1600 is my race. Nevertheless, I was going to race my hardest. Well the meet in Cedar got cancelled because the track was covered in snow and Cedar was just not in running conditions. The meet got moved to D-Hills at the last minute, and my race was still on. All throughout the race, I felt really good. I led most of the race and pushed the third lap pretty hard like Coach had instructed us right before. Mikey and Evan, who had really great races, passed me on the fourth lap and I ended up third with a 4:52; this was the first time I had broke 5. What's significant about that is that about a year ago, when I wasn't even someone who ran, I told myself that I wanted to break 5 in a mile sometime in my life, and today I did it. Just something cool. Overall, great day for running.
Tue, 28 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Mar 27, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-27-2017.html
AM over 1:26:14; 7:11 pace; 2, 1, 3, 2, 1, 2 min pickups

PM over 22:15; 7:15 pace

Really solid long run this morning. I felt great the whole time and led the pickups. It was good for to have such a good run coming off a not very good meet. In the afternoon we just did a usual 25 min route, but we got a little rain at the beginning of practice so it was a little wet. Overall, great day for running.
Mon, 27 Mar 2017 06:00:00 Sun, Mar 26, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-26-2017.html Sun, 26 Mar 2017 06:00:00
