Great day to be a panther: girls took state and boys took second. I’m really proud of my team and I know they earned everything they received. I know we’ll only do better at NXR.

#4thehug
Wed, 18 Oct 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Oct 17, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-17-2017.html
AM over 20:08; 7:13 pace

PM over 28:39; 7:51 pace; 5x striders

Morning wasn’t as chilly as yesterday, so I enjoyed it much more. Afternoon was our traditional pre-state run: up-the-hill and dodgeball with coach. Pretty great day with my team. They’re gonna kill it tomorrow!

#4thehug
Tue, 17 Oct 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Oct 16, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-16-2017.html
AM over 40:00; 7:10ish pace; 4x400 5k pace w/ 1 min recovery

PM over 25:00; 7:30 pace

Pretty chilly this morning, but it was a chill “workout” if you can even call it that. Afternoon we had a good meeting with Coach followed by a short easy run around 2450 Park. We started on the softball field, but some guy kicked us off because it was new grass. He was honestly pretty mean about it.

#4thehug
Mon, 16 Oct 2017 06:00:00 Thu, Oct 05, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-05-2017.html
AM over 15:00; 7:46 pace

PM over 49:52; 7:17 pace

Team pics today. They were alright. There’s only like a few that I hope turn out good. I’ve never had a run where I was in less of a running mood. It was good anyway. Not much else.

Weights- Squat 3x5 of 225; Bench 2x5 of 115; Thrust 3x5 of 115; Deadlift 3x5 of 185
Thu, 05 Oct 2017 06:00:00 Wed, Oct 04, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-04-2017.html
AM over 25:00; 7:16

PM over 47:15; 7:13 pace

Usual morning run. We talked about our dreams. Mine was good, but could have been better. Afternoon we did the parks and rec route with coach. We hopped the fence and saw our bros on the dirt mile. We then went under the freeway and made our way back. Got a 5 on my derivative retake in Calc, so that was dope.
Wed, 04 Oct 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Oct 02, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-02-2017.html
AM over 1:05:00; 7:15 pace

PM over 25:00; 7:18

Pretty nice run this morning. Went down River road and got on the river trail. I told the clown statue story. Afternoon was 25 grass on the softball field. The grass was really spongy and felt nice on my feet, but I could just tell we were destroying the grass. Oh well.
Mon, 02 Oct 2017 06:00:00 Sat, Sep 30, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-30-2017.html
PM over 1:00:00; 6:44 pace

Finally got some good sleep. Did my run in between sessions and I was feeling really good. It was a pretty flat run, so I just kept the pace under 6:50. On the run, I found a pretty nice bow release, so that was a score. Give me a comment if you know what a bow release is.

Sat, 30 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Fri, Sep 29, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-29-2017.html
AM over 25:00; 6:52 pace

PM Cedar Invitational

Eh would be the best way to describe this race for me. Maybe I got out too quick, but I doubt it. It probably just came down to me doing it or not doing it. I’ll look at it a little more to see what I can learn.

Clutch race from Jess. She’s freakin killin it

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Thu, Sep 28, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-28-2017.html
AM over 14:46; 7:11 pace

PM over 54:16; 7:09 pace; 6x striders

Nice little run into Green Springs. I’ve noticed none of our runs lately have been slow; they’ve all been a real nice pace and that’s pretty good. My calves have felt tight all this week, but it hasn’t affected my running at all. So that’s good.

Weights- Squat 3x5 of 225; Bench 3x5 of 115; Thrust 3x5 of 115; Deadlift 3x5 of 185

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Wed, Sep 27, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-27-2017.html
AM over 25:00; 7:22 pace

PM over 59:41; Fast pace

Usual morning run this morning, but a slim crew. We followed with some plyos. As for the workout in the afternoon, I’d say it was my best workout of the season. I stuck it with the boys every rep. It was freakin tough, but when it got hard, I pictured that course up in Sugarhouse Park; that helped a lot. It reminds me a lot of the quote I chose on Monday: “Faith in the endgame helps you live through the months or years of buildup.” This will be a workout I can look back on during my struggles.
Wed, 27 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Sep 26, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-26-2017.html
AM over 15:00; 7:05 pace

PM over 1:00:00; 7:10 pace; 2x 200m

I decided to chill a bit today on Squats and it felt good. The rest of the lifts were as usual. Afternoon run was dope; Carson, Alex, Tanner, Coach and I did the foremaster run. We kept a nice pace. We discussed the suckiness of President Trump.

Weights- Squat 3x5 of 225; Bench 3x5 of 115; Deadlift 3x5 of 205
Tue, 26 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Sep 25, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-25-2017.html
AM over 1:10:00; 6:53 pace

PM over 24:42; 7:16 pace

My long run was pretty decent. I definitely kept a progressive pace, but I just didn’t go the full minutes. Whether I should’ve or not prolly could’ve gone either way. Either way, pretty good run. Afternoon was chill, and we had a good meeting with some inspirational thoughts from Roberts.
Mon, 25 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Fri, Sep 22, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-22-2017.html
AM over 25:00; 7:10 pace

PM Nebo Invitational

My Dad told me I should try running out front, so I did. I think it actually helped; it set a pace and groove that was harder to fall out of. It felt like a good race, but the time wasn’t quite reflective of that. It’s all good though. s/o the AF for the perfect score
Fri, 22 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Thu, Sep 21, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-21-2017.html
AM over 14:54: 7:41 pace

PM over 55:00; 7:27 pace; 4x200 accels

This was the suckiest run ever. One of the most windy runs I’ve ever done. I don’t know how on earth the pace was under 7:30, but it happened I guess.

Weights- Squat 3x5 of 275; Bench 3x5 of 115; Deadlift 3x5 of 185

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Wed, Sep 20, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-20-2017.html
AM over 25:00; 7:13 pace

PM over 58:26; 5x4 min @ 5k 8k alternating w/3 min recovery

I thought I had a good workout while I was doing it, but when I looked at my reps, I did not hit the paces I needed to. I guess I can’t really trust myself to do workouts on my own; I need to be with my team.
Wed, 20 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Tue, Sep 19, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-19-2017.html
AM over 15:00; 7:27 pace

PM over 59:08; 7:46 pace

Classic run in Green Springs. We did a bit of adventuring, but didn’t get in too much trouble.

Weights- Squat 3x5 of 275; Bench 3x5 of 115; Thrust 3x5 of 115; Deadlift 3x5 of 205
Tue, 19 Sep 2017 06:00:00 Mon, Sep 18, 2017 http://Colton.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-18-2017.html
AM over 1:29:49; 7:13 pace; 2x2 mile tempo at 60-75 sec off 5k w/10 min recovery

PM over 25:00; 7:47 pace

Long run this morning was really good. I think I can easily say that long runs are no longer something I have to worry about. It wasn't too hard of a workout, but the last mile of the second set, I was feeling it a bit. I endured it well though. Afternoon was a grass run at 2450 with the boys. We stole some kids' shoes but only for a minute. It was a great day for running, and the next will be even better.
Mon, 18 Sep 2017 06:00:00
